Difference of Two-stage reverse osmosis and one-stage reverse osmosis systems
Two-stage reverse osmosis and one-stage reverse osmosis are two different levels of water treatment systems used to deal with different water quality problems.
One-stage reverse osmosis (RO) systems are a common water treatment technology used to remove dissolved ions and most suspended solids from water, including dissolved salts and organic matter. The RO system uses pressure to push water through the semipermeable membrane, allowing water molecules to pass through the membrane pores, while solutes and micromolecules are retained on the membrane surface. This technology is widely used in drinking water purification, seawater desalination, water softening, industrial process water treatment, etc.
The two-stage reverse osmosis (two-stage RO) system further removes trace amounts of solutes and residual salts based on the primary RO system. The purpose of a two-stage RO system is to make the water almost completely pure through further pressure and more efficient membrane filtration, allowing it to be used in more sensitive applications such as electronics manufacturing, pharmaceutical production, etc. Secondary RO systems are usually used in situations where extremely high water quality is required.
All in all, the primary reverse osmosis system is mainly used to remove most dissolved ions and suspended solids, while the secondary reverse osmosis system further purifies the water quality and removes trace solutes and residual salts.
